Thanks to their reputed quality and high business standards, many Swedish companies are today well established in Iraq. In order to consolidate previous promotional efforts and to further strengthen Swedish-Iraqi business relations, Swedish Minister for Trade Dr Ewa Björling will host a Swedish-Iraqi business conference in Stockholm on October 8-9. Read on to learn how your company can profit from participating in this event.

During the past years much has been done by the Swedish Government to promote Swedish expertise and technology in the process of rebuilding Iraq. Swedish Minister for Trade Dr Ewa Björling has undertaken numerous business delegations to Baghdad, Basra and Erbil and in December last year Sweden´s minister for Health and Social Affairs Mr Göran Hägglund (ta bort punkt) headed a healthcare delegation to Erbil. During these visits, doors have been opened and substantial contracts have been signed. Due to strong demand from the Swedish business community, the Swedish Trade Council has expanded operations in Baghdad and also opened a second office in Erbil, Kurdistan. Together, the Swedish Embassy in Baghdad and the Swedish Trade Council offer all kinds of assistance to companies wanting to do business in Iraq.

Incoming delegation
In order to “crown” all earlier promotional activities which have taken place during the last years, Dr Ewa Björling has decided to host a Swedish-Iraqi business conference in Stockholm. A prominent delegation from Iraq consisting of high level representatives from Government and decision-makers from a number of state and private companies will be invited to take part in the conference.

The conference programme
During the two-day conference, there will be presentations by incoming ministers and guest speakers, expert panels focusing on different business sectors and how to capture the business opportunities within these sectors, one-to-one meetings and numerous networking opportunities. There will also be an exhibition area, offering Swedish companies and organizations the possibility to present their activities and to have their own point of contact throughout the event. On the evening of Monday 8th a dinner is planned. Let us know how you would like to participate in the conference by submitting your registration together with your requirements!

Company and site visits
During the conference itself parts of the delegation will undertake different visits in the Stockholm area. After the conference, the incoming delegation will be encouraged to stay on in Sweden in order to enable site visits in other parts of Sweden. Let us know if you are interested in hosting any of the incoming guests during their stay in Sweden!
